Default End of the Holy War?

This rumor has floated around since 2010, but it's starting to look more and more concrete, that the 2012 game will be the last for at least a few years, thanks largely in part to the new PAC-12/Big Ten regular season deal.

Presently, each PAC-12 team plays 9 conference games. With a Big Ten opponent each year, that instantly fills 10 of each team's 12 slots: 5 home and 5 away. And like the 67 other BCS teams, Utah now wants to host 7 home games.

In other words, if BYU or Utah State want to stay on the schedule, they'll have to travel to RES every time they play, and we all know that BYU won't consent to such a thing.

Greed on Utah's part? Perhaps, but then again Utah was one of only four(?) BCS teams to play 6 road games last year. Michigan had 8 home games and didn't even travel until week six. That's just the way things are these days.

Once BYU lands in the Big XII or wherever, just wait, they'll want 7 or 8 home games just like everyone else.

Stay tuned...
