I used to never wear a white shirt. But in the past several years I have worn a white shirt much more frequently. Honestly, it's partly because I don't wear white shirts to work, and if I wear a white shirt for church it means I have my other shirts available for work. And you can pretty much match any tie to a white shirt.
Also, in my last ward, wearing a white shirt was a point of emphasis with the young men. Coming down from the the Bishop and the YM president. Not something I really agreed with personally, but I supported their views by most often wearing a white shirt, as I was part of the YM program.
However, I should probably receive several demerits from the traditionalists in that I don't own a single suit (that is wearable).
