The largest increases in the US population is from hispanics who are overwhelmingly Catholic. The church should speak even stronger in favor of liberalizing immigration laws and work to strengthen ties with latino organizations through working with them on this issue. The other benefit to this besides the missionary one to that segment of the population would be to offend the "redneck" white anti-foreigner element of the church and drive them either to repentance or out the door. Ok, I'm being somewhat TIC here, but not totally.
