Maybe I'm not getting your point, but I don't think you're correct. If 35% wouldn't support a Mormon candidate because they perceive Mormons are conservative, then that would mean the vast majority of opposition to a Mormon candidate comes from the left. I'm pretty sure a sizable portion of opposition comes from politically conservative evangelical Christians. These folks are politically similar to the majority of Mormons, so their opposition has to be based on something else.
