It goes back farther than that... Forbidden love is one of the oldest stories in writing. It's the same story over and over and over, Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story, bla, bla, bla...

The funny thing is that critics who claim to be so well versed in the art never seem to mention that this is pretty much the same old story, same old movie, just different characters, different scenery, and an occasional shock value.

I don't fault the writers for picking the story line... One of my literature professors in college said that nothing new has been written since Plato. I just think it's funny how everyone falls all over themselves about a story that we all already know.
