Shoot 25 people with one squeeze of the trigger of an automatic weapon? Well, that there is just one shot. Defraud thousands of people consistently over the course of several years? That there would be just one error in judgment.
Don't you see? If you just do the same thing consistently and repeatedly (but within arbitrary bounds we have established- we aren't animals), then it is really just one instance of torture.
