Default Taysom Hill

I feel bad for him. I was really hoping he'd have a great year. And it certainly started off well in the first half until he got hurt. After that, he had a tougher time out there.

I saw someone on another site basically say he thought Taysom Hill is the best QB we've ever had. And while Hill's athletic ability and passion for the game are obvious, in all seriousness, that poster must either be about 12 years old or he's basing it on the hopes and dreams of what Taysom could have been, rather than reality. It's sad that it's been so long since BYU had a highly efficient and consistently effective passer at quarterback that our fans have forgotten what that looks like. It used to be what BYU was.

I guess I'm just a child of the 80s who saw McMahon, Young, and Detmer play, and that makes me biased in favor of passing QBs over runners.

I'm sad for Hill, but excited for Tanner Mangum. Hill had a good arm, but I think Mangum is going to prove to be a much more accurate passer, also with a strong arm. I think Hill's great ability to run actually got in the way of his development as a passer. It's just sadly ironic that this season where the plan was for BYU to focus on the passing game and not call designed runs for him with the idea of increasing the chances he wouldn't get hurt, that he still got hurt from running in the very first game.
