So this morning this article shows up on ESPN about how BYU and UH, and BYU especially do not "water down" the Big 12. Why does this suddenly come out now? ESPN as we know, has been involved in the negotiations, so I think a plausible theory is this is the start of preparing the PR message about BYU and UH being a good addition because the big news is about to come down. To be honest, ByU and the gay rights issue has always been known to the Big 12. There are multiple sources who have chimed in saying that BYU and the Big 12 have been talking about it for a while. They just didn't know an activist group would try to hit the news this week. But the national media doesn't seem to want to talk about it anymore. The story is dying and only being kept alive now on the BYU message boards and to some extent in the local Utah media. That's not to minimize the seriousness of it, but it's not really much of a national story with the Olympics going on and Donald Trump going crazy.
