Commissioner Bowlsby on Mike and Mike this morning said geography isn't that big of a deal anymore like it may have been 25 years ago. He said electronic footprint matters now. Very good signs for BYU. The idea of bringing in a team that doesn't have most of its fanbase concentrated in one market is a plus for them. He could have said something totally different if the strengths BYU brings to the table aren't important to them.
Also encouraging is the statement Holmoe made immediately after the B12 announcement saying BYU is very interested. That was cued up ready to go. They clearly knew what was being discussed in the meetings and were sitting ready to make a positive statement on it. However you interpret the history of BYU and the Big 12, what is happening today looks completely different.
