I think, in a subconscious or backhanded sort of way, your resentment of the LDS church is blinding you to the fact that most pundits believe Romney is going to be the pick, and that he is, politically, the safest pick available.
My acknowledgment of that fact is hardly an endorsement of Romney.
Who in the world do you find to be a better pick for the guy politically? The Republican cupboard is bare. That much this election cycle has made clear. |

I've said I favor Romney. The only thing I don't look forward to is a bunch of blather around here about "a Mormon being a heartbeat from the presidency."
