I just took another look at your post and found that I really hadn't answered all of it.
A cycle management operator keeps an eye on job cycles, posts off jobs, & deals with abends. Most of what I do has to do with nightly processing of massive quantities of information that comes in from hospitals, mainly Parkland, Tenet, & Pharmacare.
Its not nearly as glamerous as it sounds :P .
