cyclists need to use extreme caution when pedestrians are on a jogging trail. They need to give a wide berth, slow down, and announce their presence. Ride defensively.

It appears, from grapevine reports, that the pedestrian here, Ms. Huddleston, sustained massive brain trauma, and has had a craniotomy performed. She may die.

I don't care if you think it's the pedestrian's fault, if you kill someone while on your bike, you are going to have to live with that. Imagine if it had been a child. Too many cyclists worried about their time and their training and not being prudent and safe.
