Until the older generation lets go of its gay hate, Mormons will be marginalized.

One of the ways that Mormonism may find itself out of the fog is to re-think the concept Excommunication and Disfellowshipping for sexual "transgressions."

It is strange to grant non-professional lay clergy judgment rights over a person's sex life.

I don't know if either of you has seen Spotlight, the movie about the Boston Herald's exposee on the sexual abuse of children by the clergy. Included in that investigation was a psychologist who had studied the issue for forty years. He noted that 6% of all priests will abuse children, and that 50% of priests are having sex.

The LDS Church reconfigured its approach to identifying members with sexual predatory tendencies as a result of legal liability.

What father wants a forty, fifty or sixty year old man talking to his 13 year old daughter about her sex life? That issue is fraught with legal liability. The LDS Church needs to move away from that issue. And if it does it can have a reconciliation with gay people in and out of the Church.
