The strategy was to single guard Landale and hold down the rest of their team, basically because 3 points > 2 points. It almost worked. I really think if we had doubled Landale that the rest of their team would have gone crazy from three and we lose by 15 points in regulation. That's what St. Mary's is built for. Sure, it would be great to have a lockdown defender at the 5, but hardly anyone in college basketball has that. Certainly no one in our league, including Gonzaga does either. Unfortunately we came just barely short of closing it out at the end and ran out of gas in the OT. I think as a team we're playing better now than we were then, but it will still be a longshot winning at their place. But I don't think it's impossible. It's less "impossible" than winning at Gonzaga was last year.
