A couple of awesome new entries for the "new tone" this week.

First, Obama again calls for civility:

"Now, in fairness, since I've been called a socialist who wasn't born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I'm all for lowering the rhetoric," he said.

Of course, Mr. President. But I guess MSNBC didn't get that memo.

• Ed Schulz mis-edits a Rick Perry speech and calls him a racist (EDIT: next day he apologizes for the doctored edit, but not for the racism charge)

EDIT: And one more I missed from last year:

• Dec 7, 2010, Obama: "I think it's tempting not to negotiate with the hostage takers, unless the hostage gets harmed."

I'm all for lowering the rhetoric.
