Ok, I'll come right out and say it again. I do not believe most so called cases of porn addiction are in fact addiction. Sounds too much to me like the catch-all Mormon divorce excuse. Like irreconcilable differences or some such.

I imagine most "uses" do not clinically qualify. In a clinical sense, "use" means looked at it with no harm to "user".
Misuse means harm felt but use eliminated. Both use and misuse usually result no lasting harm.
Abuse means one uses experiences harm but continues.
Dependency means abuse but one tries to extricate oneself from use and fails to extricate.
It is better understood in terms of substances but can be transferred in terms of activities and habits.
So I agree.
What complicates matters for Mormons is the cultural guilt associated with viewing pornography, so any "use" is considered harmful, so our diagnoses are faulty in a clinical sense.
Clinicians feel free to correct my misstatements. Mine was but a lay person's efforts to express it.
