This is very true. I don't necessarily need an American to be the best heavyweight boxer, but I can say that it was an American named Don King who has tainted the sport for me.
And you're correct about how things became different because of Ali. I would have thought that colleges (or at least the students) would have embraced him a bit more based on his views of Vietnam. You know, just like those hippies.
