Default crackled paint

my daughter wanted to have an asian inspired bathroom, so we we painted it a pretty bright, semi-gloss red. The semi-gloss looked *really* glossy, so i put the same color in flat over it. still really glossy, but it didn't blind you anymore when you turned on the lights.
so, that got old so we repainted it a more neutral tan. since I was going over red, i put up primer first, then the tan. after a while, the painted got a crackled look to it, kind of like one of those faux finishes.
So, i put some of the kilz sealer/primer (to give the next coat a good surface for stickiness) and put up another coat. A few weeks later, it crackled again.

Now, shortly after I finished the last coat of tan, my daughter took one of her infamous 1 hour showers. The paint was pretty dry, but it hadn't been a good 24 hours. Could that have caused it to crackle? Or do I need to mix a little butter in the paint next time? Or is something else going on?
