Any Manhattan Transfer fans?
I hung out with Tim Hauser, the group's founder today. His daughter and my son have an acting class together - we both waited in the lobby of the studio for a couple of hours with another lady and kind of chatted. He's a pretty down-to-earth guy. Nice, too.

What a coincidence... my wife and her brother were just discussing how much they like Manhattan Transfer. What school is your daughter at?

My son and his daughter - they go to an acting class in North Hollywood on Saturdays - It's called Class Act. Just a small class taught by a former child actor you've never heard of (Jeff Alan Lee) and another woman who's an actor. Their two most famous students are Scarlett Johansson and Shia LeBoeuf.

That's cool... but you do know that if your son makes it big he's pretty much guaranteed to go crazy, don't you? There are few young actors\actresses I know of that have stayed grounded despite their fame... and the only actress I know if is Natalie Portman, which is part of the appeal.

JL, how have you managed to stay sane given the accolades and popularity you have acquired from cougarboard?

Obviously I haven't. Given that random people like Hazzard are making pre-emptive strikes against me, I'm far more messed up than I realize.

The common thread I see with crazy kid actors is crazy families. Having met quite a number of kid actor parents now, I am surprised how many are actually pretty normal - yeah, there are the psycho parents, but there are a lot who are pretty grounded. I don't see the fame much different for actors than it is for athletes - and we've seen a number of LDS athletes do okay. The important thing is for me to make sure he doesn't have success go to his head. Now he's just got to get a little success.
