The way to beat an entrenched enemy is to set up a siege.

Cut off all entry and escape. Do not let any supplies or reinforcements. Methodically destroy his fortifications. In this case, it means leveling those structures in which the enemy is taking shelter.

Had this been a different part of the world, this would likely lead to fires that would wipe out all buildings. But in the case of concrete, one is left with rubble.

What do you do with rubble? You watch it. You learn what the enemy is doing, where they are exiting their underground structures. Like prairie dogs, shoot anything showing its head above ground.

Part of the purpose of your siege is to prevent people from wanting to battle you again.

I hope our munitions are superior to what Israel was using. Because Israel failed.

No offense, but I guess I just don't get how so many armchair military quarterbacks have suddenly become the authority on how to fight and win a war.

if you have a specific criticism, feel free to say it. Or I suppose you are saying no one should say anything about it. That's fine, I guess, but why be on a message board? Best way to avoid opinions is to 1) avoid the politics/current events forums and 2) stay away from message boards. This isn't brain surgery.

It depends on how you do it. You don't think we could level an entire town in a day with missiles, bombs, artillery, etc? Special ops with seismic equipment (or using human intelligence) find the underground bunkers/passageways. We had better figure out how to do it, and how to do it fast.

Fortunately our robotics are advancing such that we can do a lot of this without risking lives.

The entire purpose of the exercise is to risk the other sides lives.

Nothing specific. I thought my comment was pretty clear. There's a difference between an armchair quarterback critiquing how a QB throws a footbal and an armchair quarterback critiuqing military strategy.

I guess I see lots of people saying they're going about this wrong and my question is simply how or where do they get their expertise in military strategy?
