Two new temples in Arizona
One will be near President Kimball's hometown of Thatcher, about two hours northeast of Tucson.
The other will be in the greater Phoenix community of Gilbert. I find it interesting that Mesa and Gilbert are closer in proximity than any of the temples in Utah, which are all at least 12 miles apart. War Arizona! http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/...les-in-arizona |

But the population of Maricopa is larger than the state of Utah.

Maybe Rocky Balboa can verify this, but when I was in Phoenix on the first of April a year ago, it looked like General Conference was scheduled to be televised on the local CBS affiliate, just like it is in Salt Lake City.

It's also on one of the local channels in Vegas.

I wonder if the saints in Yuma are supposed to attend San Diego (170 miles), Redlands (190 miles), Mesa (195 miles), or Gilbert (200 miles).
My friend's stake in Chelyabinsk (Russia), is told to go to the Frieberg temple even though Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen are all closer. |

Oh there is some gobbildygook about the kingdom being one of order. My grandparents who live in the Salt Lake Valley are told they are supposed to attend Jordan River.

It's really overdue. The Mesa Temple has been over-run and understaffed for as long as I can remember.
That area in terms of church membership was growing so fast when I was down there they were buying 2 plots of land and building 2 new church houses right next door to each other and changing ward boundaries at a pace of every 6 months. The Gilbert location is perfect as it's near the finished 202 freeway.
