BYU stops talks with Big East
http://espn.go.com/college-football/...cording-report
Maybe Mike is right but BYU is a pain in the butt and isn't able to secure its future. First, we haven't won anything in eos. Second, we aren't in any meaningful conference and we tend to alienate allies. Third, we have nothing to play for unless we stumble into a good conference where we will place so many demands nobody will want us. I love the concept of BYU, the history of having attended it, but I find its administration inept and incompetent in doing simple things, such as negotiating contracts, hiring the right employees, and having a vision that is achievable. Novembers will no longer matter. Neither will Decembers and heaven forbid Januarys. Not only will they NOT matter, there is no hope or prayer of them ever mattering until the BoT changes and other administrative changes are made. BYU thinks it's something it's not. We're not that important people. We're NOT ND and we won't be any time soon. Bronco is not that good.

Help me understand this. What is the grand appeal of retaining the rebroadcasting rights of your home games? So that on the BYU channel, in-between episodes of Dogs with Jobs and Nature's Power Revealed, they can show a replay of the exciting 2005 game against Colorado State?
That is worth throwing out a potential $1.5 billion shared TV deal, 7 or 8 bowl bids and a chance to play in the BCS when starting 0-4 in the conference? |

Not joining the Big Least is the right move.
Not joining the Big 12, if that was a possibility, was probably the wrong move. If BYU fans don't care about BYU in the 2nd half of the season, how little are non-BYU fans caring? |

The Big East is looking to expand again. Presently they're sitting on 13 teams and want a 14th. Who knows maybe they'll talk to BYU again?
Recap of the changes: OUT West Virginia Pitt Syracuse IN San Diego State (Pacific) Boise State (Mountain) Houston, SMU, Memphis (Central) Central Florida, Navy (Eastern) |
