Default The elephant in the room

re: Big 3 automaker bailout, that I don't hear in the mainstream press.

I'm sure it's reported, it's just that I haven't heard it yet.

The death of the UAW as we know it.

Why should the GOP give billions of dollars to the UAW?

And of course, that is why we see the democrats falling over themselves to try and bail out the Big 3 with at least 50 billion dollars.

What I didn't realize is that the UAW covers many more workers than just those in the auto industry. John Deere's workers, for example, are members of the UAW. They reach manufacturing broadly. The end of the Big 3 as we know them will not be the end of UAW.

464k members of UAW

266k workers for GM
87k for Ford
132k for Chrysler

You do the math. Big 3 collapse is big, big trouble for UAW.

Why do you think France and other socialist countries bail out failed, inefficient industries, it's not out of concern for the investors?

The numbers do tell the story.
