Default Economists favor Obama 59% to 28% over McCain

http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2008/09/poll-of-aea.html

Big surprise. Obama routes McCain on every single issue except free trade.

Not noted in that blog post is Adams' notation that in the AEA, Democrats out number Republicans 48% to 17%. Take that into consideration when you're tooting your small horn.

This is surprising:

Quote:
Nationally, most economists are male, and I'm told that most are registered as either Democrats or independents. Our sample reflects that imbalance:

48 percent -- Democrats
17 percent -- Republicans
27 percent -- Independents
3 percent -- Libertarian
5 percent -- Other or not registered

That would be great, actually.

I am not intimating anything.

But why would there be such a bias for economists?

Because they are Marxist idiots?

compared to the other social sciences, that's actually quite conservative. in political science/history/anthropology the ratio is 9:1

Marxists aren't allowed in the AEA.

Yes. There are only 2 departments Marxist departments in the country (Utah, UMass). Marxists are pretty much shut out of jobs and membership in the AEA. The stuff they do isn't considered orthodox.
