THe assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford
Good film, largely carried by an excellent performance by Casey Affleck as Robert Ford.
Yes, it's long and slow. That's why it isn't a great film. Btw, if you thought "There will be blood" was long and slow, stay far, far away from this film. |

Good synopsis. I liked the scenery, but want that last hour back.

A little too art house for me, but I agree it was carried by Affleck the younger. I also enjoyed the guy who played Dick. My interest picked up after the killing and would have been a much better subject to deal with Bob Ford's life in more detail during that span.
oh well good flick. Was Affleck nominated for that. He really was extraordinary.

affleck won a golden globe and screen actors guild award for his supporting role. He was nominated for an oscar, but didn't get it.

the film would have been better named "The Assassination of the Coward Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford".

I watched this movie the other night, so I thought I'd dig up this thread. Agree that it was both long, slow, yet good. Affleck and Pitt do a nice job and the supporting cast is good as well (Sam Rockwell is pretty underated as an actor).
It wasn't completely what I expected, as I just figured Ford would be the villian from start to finish, but as the movie drags on, you don't see Jesse James in as positive a light as say, Billy the Kid (Young Guns...not that the two movies are comparable, just saying). I don't think I'll ever watch it again, but I certainly enjoyed certain aspects of it. |

Easily the most boring film of 2007 and maybe ever.

Can I guess you've never seen Out of Africa?

Out of Africa was a Die Hard-esque thrill a minute compared to it.
Come to think of it, so was Meet Joe Black and that's saying something. Actually I take that back. Meet Joe Black might be the most boring movie ever.
