Need something new to talk about besides the health care mess. Did any of you notice John You on the Daily Show a few weeks ago? Link to the 1st of 3 segments below.

Yoo handled Stewart's mocking tone beautifully. Calm, witty, likeable, Yoo's plain explanations of the quandaries around waterboarding and torture blew Stewart's mind. It's a great clip.

Another former Bush official is speaking out on the waterboarding/torture issue. Marc Thiessen has written a book on the topic, and he gets testy with CNN's Amanpour.

Not quite as smooth as Yoo, but every bit as convincing.

I haven't watched the Amanpour interview. But how hard is it to ask, "Should Americans be fine with captured Americans being interrogated in just the same way by foreign powers? Do you think water-boarding of captured American operatives is permissible treatment?"

You should. The other guest does ask that question, and Thiessen answers it.

He also notes that American servicemen are waterboarded already. By us, during training.

That's right. Training to help them overcome torture, like waterboarding, in the future if they are captured.

The moral bankruptcy of the right on this issue is appalling.

I'm on the right and don't agree with the torture angle of Bush. I may be morally bankrupt but Mike convinced me long ago it was wrong. Such sweeping allegations.

I don't want to watch 13 minutes of video. So he says waterboarding of American prisoners is ok treatment? Or does he dodge the question by saying "we have waterboarded our own"?
