two guys on tandem?
what would be the reaction to this? would it be okay? or way weird to other people?
for example, if my father and I rode a tandem. |

Not weird at all (although you probably guessed I would say this). There area lot of tandem races where the teams are comprised of two men. Typically two men teams are the most serious go fast tandem riders, as opposed to simply being gay, if that is your concern.

Honestly, unless it is a tandem race or it is fairly obvious that it is a Father/Son outing, I'm thinking something funny is going on. I had that reaction to a small degree last year during a century. I wasn't bothered by it; it just seemed a bit awkward. Granted, I had no problem hopping behind them in the paceline and taking off at about 30 mph on a flat section.

My only thought is two less guys to compete for the affections of pretty gals. Hey, if the rest of the world were gay men and straight women, maybe fuzzy's fascination with Vielehe could become my reality.
I don't see two tandem guys very often, if ever, except during races.

So how do all these tandem race teams train? With weach other on the road, of course. Sheesh, you guys are so concerned about appearances. WHo cares? I wouldn't worry about it (unless I lived in someplace rich in neanderthals, like Texas, of course)

The guys here I know who actually won senior nationals don't train together surprisingly. The train as pros separately and then enter the race on race day and win. How I don't know.

Joking aside, I am aware that quite a few tandem race teasms do that. The stoker just has to have a big engine and be willing to disconnect from any control. If he/she can, spearate training isn't essential, it appears.
