Jesus as the Intercessor
Today in Sunday School we discussed some of the blessings that come from the Atonement. One of the comments my wife made, actually, was that because Jesus suffered the pains of all people (emotional, spiritual, physical) He is better able to plead with the Father on our behalf for mercy.
Now that, to me, means God is maybe not the liberal being many think he is... if He were perfectly willing to forgive and let sins go, why would Jesus need to plead with Him for us? |

It is through Christ's suffering that God can show mercy; it is therefore no surprise that Christ would plead on our behalf, given that He is the entity wherein the ability to extend mercy is implemented. I see nothing in these verses (D&C 45:3-5, am I right?) that imply a limit on how much mercy Christ can extend to man, so long as he believes in Him.
