Default thinking about asking YM President if I can

bow out of mutual (once a month) so I can go on my group ride.

He'll want me to go. and I'll feel guilty if I ask. Sucks.

We should not be a church of "guilt". But, that is the way it works sometimes.

I don't think there would be a problem if you ducked out now and again. Remember, this is a church of volunteers. A healthy MW makes a happier MW to serve in a more capable way!

I am Scoutmaster and am YM 2nd counselor and Deacon's Q. advisor (doesn't mean that much since Priests/Teachers/Deacons meet together in our ward).

The 1st counselor has never been to a campout. But he does go to the dances, which I don't do.

We basically have 3.5 people running the entire YM program. So me bowing out for mutual is a little bit of a hit.

aren't you a scoutmaster mike? that's basically a full time job is it not? i think it would be a great idea for you to go on a group ride every once in a while. for one you have earned it and two, what is the assistant scoutmaster for? your best bet is during the once a month combined activity with ym/yw when there is a plethora of adults.

I just remembered that I have class through August that would prevent me from going. So I'm screwed all around.

I could go on a group ride Sat. mornings, but then I would have to give up my bball game. Since my big ride is coming up, might start doing that.
