Default Please join me in a special fast

I have decided that on this coming Sunday I am going to fast and pray that the Stadium of Fire goes bankrupt.

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,680194711,00.html

I love America, but this cheesy, overly-commercial, over-priced affair featuring Nashville music and KSL quasi-celebrities (Dick Norris, Grant and Amanda, etc.) is a blight on humanity that must be stopped before more damage is done.

Last year the Salt Lake City/University of Utah equivalent of the Stadium of Fire ("Red Hot Fourth"?) went belly-up due to lack of ticket sales, causing me to grudgingly give a nod to my Ute brethren to the north for their good sense and taste. This latest financial news gives me a glimmer of hope that perhaps we can achieve the same thing here in Utah County.

Who's with me?

Maybe if they had someone besides a country music singer perform I'd consider going. I went to Huey Lewis and the News. What they really need to do is get Neil Diamond again. I would fly home and go to the Stadium of Fire to see Neil in a heartbeat, without a second thought.

Sure you do. You could use a little of the spirit Senator Hatch identifies in his song, "America Rocks!"

From its busy, bustling cities
To its quiet country walks
It's totally cool, it's totally hot
I mean it's like right there at the top
America rocks! America rocks! America rocks!

If 30 to 40K people want to go and they don't force you to go, why do you care? Is it put on with my tax dollars. If that is the case, I care.

If they keep raising the ticket prices, eventually they won't sell any tickets. The thrifty nature of Utah County will never spend too much.

I think the only thing keeping them in business is that they use about 5,000 girls for a dance, selling tix to parents and other family.

It didn't used to be as cheesy and commercial as it is now.

I think I went to one of (if not 'the') first one. It had great fireworks, Lorrie Morgan (hot!) and finished out with Mo-Tab. Now, before you snigger about Mo-Tab....all they sang was patriotic songs while fireworks were going off inside and outside the stadium.

It was one of the more patriotic times I've experienced. That's where I think this whole production fails...it is no longer a "patriotic" affair. It's a fanfare show, with some fireworks thrown in.

However, this year might be different and slanted a little more to the patriotic side since it's being hosted by Glenn Beck.

I'm tempted to go again because of Glenn Beck.

You consider Neil Diamond an upgrade from Nashville music? Yikes.
