Oh we're worried we might LOSE a game if we actually play someone? That's why it's called a game. That's why it has intrigue. That's why people pay to come watch the game and dedicate their Saturdays to the team. You're not sure of the outcome. It's exciting and compelling.

If we're worried we might lose a game, maybe we could make a special request to the NCAA that we play a team called BYE and have it count as a victory. Then nobody gets hurt and we get a win. Balance.

I would sooner pay money to watch the Friday scrimmage of a bye week. Put it in the stadium and take tickets. Call it the sixth home game. We get a bye. Fans get some action watching the BYU offense actually play someone (BYU defense).

Hell, go independent and petition the NCAA to play this team called BYE 12 times. Maybe some voters won't pay attention, assume we played this team on the MTN. Score looks impressive. 12-0. Maybe we sneak in a BCS bowl. Bring a couple million in the program. A lot of the big donors just give their tickets to their grandkids--they won't notice. Maybe season tickets don't suffer too badly. Bronco goes down as most winning coach in history. Fireside attendance soars.

I've actuallly been thinking it might be best for the MWC to join div 1AA, and compete for a real national championship.

I suspect over the years we will be increasingly familiar with many div 1aa teams, and may even consider them rivals.

I didn't have anything to do with that article. Doesn't Harmon play both sides of the fence in that article?

Quote:
If they tough up BYU's 2008 schedule, they may be damned, perhaps sacrificing wins for losses in a quest for respect.

If they lighten it up, they may also be damned, because folks will poke fun like Hawaii discovered this season when they made it to the BCS with the weakest schedule in Division I.

This will be an interesting call in weeks to come.

Seriously though Indy, you should be proud. Harmon obviously got the SOS comparison to 80's stuff from you. He's your biggest fan. You need to start charging him.

Harmon isn't an idiot. He's been covering BYU sports going back to the 80's. He's witnessed it first hand. He knows what's been done and what Holmoe/Bronco want to do now. He's just reporting it.

He's not advocating it. If you think he's advocating it, that's yet another example of your poor ability to separate your own emotion from the issue instead of actually trying to understand what is being said.

1. That was a serious compliment to you. And I'm sure he got the 80's comparison from your stuff lately.

2. Harmon's been on this scheduling kick ever since 2000. You know as well as I do he's not an unbiased journalist. He picks sides, and it's usually to homer whoever he's trying to cozy up to at BYU. He occasionally will be critical towards BYU, but it's usually to defend someone else he likes, i.e. fighting Rondo because he was defending Roger or defending Val/Crowton from their enemies within BYU.
