Default Rick Ankiel leads triple A in homers

yes that Rick Ankiel that pitched for the Cardinals in the World Series a few years ago and set a major league record for wild pitches in an inning.

He completely lost confidence in his ability to throw strikes and eventually quit baseball. Well after only a few months off the Cardinals coaxed him in to the coming back and trying to play OF.

He has been making the transition the last 2 1/2 years and is starting to show some serious promise. His throws from the outfield have been clocked at 94mph so you know he still has a gun.

He is currently hitting 270 with 26 hrs and 65 rbis. With the Cards struggling a call-up should happen this season. He is also still relatively young at 27 years old.

Also if you are a baseball fan watch the futures game on ESPN2 and 2pm (mst) today, some of the games future stars will be playing, keep your eye on Justin Upton and Evan Longoria for the US team. As well as starting pitcher Jeff Niemann. For the World team watch out for Carlos Carrasco (p) and Carlos Gonazales (OF), Henry Sosa is another great pitcher, and although he has struggled this year watch out for Deolis Guerra when the season started he was only 17 years old. He is 6'5 200 lbs and throws a mid 90s fastball.

He's now played 3 games for the Cards and has 3 HR's after homering twice today. I'm happy for the guy, it was tough to watch him fall apart as a pitcher. This dude must be an incredibly talented athlete to come all the way back to the bigs as a non-pitcher.

Yeah when he was called up in 100 games he had 36 homers and 90 rbis. Also he has an absolute gun in the OF, it may fly over the backstop but man he has a cannon.
