Gotta Love the French
SO the French claim they don't recognize Riijs as having won the 96 tour, nor do the see Zabel as the Green jersey winner in the year he has admitted he doped, yet they have never pressed Virenque to return any of his KOM jerseys won during his Festina days. Moreover, when Virenque returned from the suspension and won another KOM jersey (in a manner that some old timers thought was suspect (long solo breaks on moderately hilly stages to rack up KOM points and then hang on through the real mountains) he was feted as a hero in France. Now they won't even let Rijs show up at the tour more than a decade after his admitted cheating.

Give the French a break. They have not had much tochear about foralongtime. Moreou(sp) has show flashes. But I think his tour is all but over. A week team killed him today.

Even in the early 90's French cycling still looked to be in good shape with Fignon, Charly Mottet, Jean-Francois Bernard, Luc LeBlanc and a handful of others but they really have stunk up the joint. We better let them rejoice in the past success of Virenque or they may just take their ball and go home.
