I'm open to the idea. I wouldn't mind going to Nigeria/Ghana.

It seems like very few couples go, at least out here in the mission field. I don't know if it's different in Utah.

So much so, that Bishops are prayerfully and formallly approaching couples and asking them to serve, like a calling (at higher-ups request).

Based on the results of the poll so far, I would say that members of cougarguard are much more likely to say they are going to serve a couples mission than current healthy retired LDS are actually likely to go.

My wife told me I would be going alone and I've already done that.

Saying you will on a message board and actually pulling the trigger are very different things.

Mrs. Meanie and I will definitely go but we'll likely do something in a non-proselytizing capacity - either as a volunteer or as a non-compensated Church employee. That way we won't have to be under missionary rules and under the thumb of a mission president.

There are many many volunteer positions for couples available that aren't specifically missionary work. Working with the PEF or with LDS Philantropies or different things. My parents just got done doing a volunteer stint at BYU Hawaii. I will probably go and help set up computer infrastructure in Africa or Mongolia or something like that.

Neither my mission nor my marriage were experiences to cherish. The very thought of doing either again makes me nauseous.
