When is the last time you enjoyed a Will Smith movie? I vaguely remember liking Enemy of the State, but I saw that shortly after my mission when I liked anything. Hancock looks horrible. At least he can keep up his streak of bad big-budget Summer blockbusters.

I am Legend, The Pursuit of Happiness, Hitch and especially I, Robot are all good recent films if not great.

Hancock is taking a lot of heat from critics but I am also hearing from some pretty movie savvy folks that they and the audiences they watched with really seemed to enjoy it. It will do huge numbers at the box office over teh five day opening.

I agree with your assessment and would love to be as hated as much as Will Smith is by movie producers.

There was a streak of horrible movies, MIBII, Bad BoysII, Wild Wild West... But his more recent movies have been pretty good, the ones Dan listed.

Will Smith is like Clint Eastwood and Jim Carrey in the sense that he plays the exact same character in every film.

Personally, I don't dislike him. When you go to a Will Smith movie, you know exactly what you are going to get, yet I usually still find them entertaining.

I think that is more or less right. They simply play themselves. On the other hand, you have some guys who always play themselves and it is annoying. Ben Affleck is one example and it only really worked in Good Will Hunting.

We ate dinner at Tucanos and then went to see Hancock.

Watching Hancock was the cinematic equivalent of the dry beef that we were served for dinner.
