Katie Holmes will not be returning to her role in the Batman sequel.
"Holmes' publicist said that "scheduling conflicts" were the reason why the actress would not be reprising her role. She added that Holmes was busy negotiating for another project, when she was approached for the role. Katie was offered ['Dark Knight'] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts. I am SURE that it had nothing to do with her being the worst part of the Batman Begins movie. She was terrible and I have little doubt that the director and rest of the Batman group will now all let out a big sigh of relief.

This now begs the question...who to replace her?

I thought the choice of Heath Ledger as The Joker was an odd one, but hey I thought the same thing about Christian Bale being Batman and I couldn't have been more wrong about him.

I was quite dissapointed that she was passed over for the title role in "The Queen."

She was absolutely horrible in that movie. I wondered to myself, and out loud, "why would he want a super annoying crappy actor?" I am very glad that she will not be in any further Batman movies.

This has to be about money. She thinks shes worth more than they offered. Maybe she is, but I think she is a lousy big screen actress.

How about someone who is more than just eye candy and can actually act like Paltrow or Beckinsale or Portman?

What I read on Rotten Tomatoes is that the girlfriend role is a diminished one in the Dark Knight and Katie was looking for something meatier. And with her acting chops I can understand why she passed. (I hope a TIC here isn't necessary)
