Bush to support guano subsidies?
I was talking to one of my lawschool mates who works on capitol hill and he says the scuttlebutt around his office is that the president has been convinced by certain oil investors who he knows from his Texas days that the next big alternative fuel source is bat guano, or a dirivative therefrom. Allegedly he has met with them over the last several weeks informally.
Apparently there is some talk that the Bush administration is going to throw its support behind legislation to creat huge new subsidies for research into guano. Some are skeptical that this is an attempt by the president to line the pockets of his cronies and get the side benefit of appearing to support alternative fuel sources while not doing so in a meaningful way. My classmate, however, is convinced that the president is seriously sold on guano as the next big thing in fuel. If that is really true.....guano? What a ninny.
