BOOM goes the dynamite! Heaps transferring
http://espn.go.com/college-football/...s-transferring
No doubt Heaps was a huge disappointment this season. Inaccurate, bad reads, no progressions, no playmaking. Seemed like he had so much promise after his freshman season. Too bad. He had his chance, but he sucked. That's the bottom line. Maybe we can put some of this on the coaching for not developing him better. If you are a great HS QB, do you really trust Doman to develop you? Maybe, maybe not. BYU has turned into a school where a 300 yard passing performance is a rarity. That's sad and pathetic. If I were Heaps, I would go to Washington State with Leach. |

A shame, but not a surprise.

After Heaps sits out a year, doesn't he only have his senior year left over?
I think he was better off staying. No doubt that Riley Nelson will get injured again, the way he plays. Even if Heaps didn't play a down his junior year, he would still be in the same position as if he had transferred. Ego is a helluva thing. |

He has a redshirt year left. But he can redshirt here too.

He's improved since coming back. Why can't we keep a friggin top recruit?

Heaps had to play the more difficult part of the schedule.
But the guy just didn't make plays. As in, didn't make the obvious plays that were right in front of him. I recall that BYU lost another highly prized QB who transferred away only to suck. UCLA, as I recall it. |

Yes, I realize in 2007 Kansas played in one but that was ages ago if you look how they played in 2011.

Big 12 might not even exist in 2013.

Transfering to a less-prominent program for no other purpose than to be tutored by a coach who can help him with his technique and make him realize his NFL potential has got to be a slap-in-the-face at someone.
Perhaps Weiss can help him stop overthrowing receivers.
