the worst President of our lifetimes is walking
into the sunset.
And yes I was alive during the Carter administration. He diminished America in every way possible. Good riddance. Even Republicans are cheering his passage. |

I'm not defending Bush, but you're leaving out vital bits of information.

No president could have taken 9/11 and turned the entire Western world against us. That's a stunning achievement.

We don't know this at all because only Bush was President at the time. Perhaps if it had been Gore, the US would have been overrun by Al Quedea types while Gore lay under his desk in the fetal position, whimpering and sucking his thumb.

Thank God we now are going to have a President who believes America must stand for morality. Even in the face of its enemies. God willing, one day George W. Bush will stand in front of a tribunal to answer for his crimes. |

South Africa's experience is a good example. We can do this, without necessarily throwing people in jail. But rather get to the nitty gritty of who did what, who ordered what, etc. Bring the darkness to light.

Bush was a pretty decent president, all things considered. The opinion of the world vis-a-vis America is a finicky and overrated thing, in my opinion. Bush made his share of mistakes as all men are wont to do, and I'm not sure many of us wouldn't have made the same mistakes were we in his shoes.
Fred Barnes published a column last week detailing 10 Bush achievements. They are not insignificant. Barnes' 3rd item in particular is a gift to future presidents of all parties, Mr. Obama included: a strengthened executive. While Biden seems oddly determined to diminish the role of the VP, so far Obama has not given off many signals that he will do the same with the presidency. We can only hope. People who call Bush the "worst" or "one of the worst" are either prone to hyperbole, ignorant of American history, or living with blinders on.
