Ralph Feigin
I didn't find out til yesterday that he died in 2008. Which surprised me, because he was not old (70), and he seemed like an extremely vigorous man when I knew him.
He died of lung cancer, despite being a non-smoker. This man was one of the sharpest persons I ever met. His encyclopedic knowledge was legendary. His memory was the sort of thing books might be written about someday. In a profession of many smart people, he was the guy that the smart people were in awe of, in terms of raw computing power. He was also kind (as far as I know), and always had a friendly, smiling disposition. RIP Dr. Feigin. |
