Humility Rewarded - U Prof. wins Nobel Prize
It was announced today in the Washington Post that Dr. Mario Capecchi of the University of Utah is a recipient of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Medicine. I took a Human Genetics class from Dr. Capecchi and he is one of the most humble and sincere men to walk this earth. If you take the time to peruse the article, note how his life was affected by WWII and how he has quietly overcome many obstacles.
It is refreshing to see such a genuine and good human being receive such prestigious recognition. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...52.html?sub=AR |

Everyone in my lab today is acting like I should know him personally because I'm from Utah. One Chinese dude ran in all excited this morning and said: "Your folks won the nobel prize!" The Chinese guys all think Capecchi is Mormon because he's in Utah. Very funny. This group should have won the prize earlier. Definitely before the people who won it last year. |

Also, the anecdote about the guys in his lab thinking he knows everyone in Utah and they are all Mormons is so funny and right on.
