Superbad

Much more funny than I expected. The first hour I was mostly in stitches. The bit about the penis drawings as a kid (8% LOL) and then the bit slamming on their buddy for the ridiculous fake ID (strategy).

As soon as the cops entered the movie about 45 minutes in, the movie tanked. The cops totally changed the feel of the movie from something original and funny to the same ol' lame Hollywood "comedy". Why do so many comedies start out strong the first 30-45 minutes then tank because they feel compelled to follow a plot line or teach a warm fuzzy moral? Lame.

I think this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I highly recommend seeing it.

The penis drawing as a child almost caused me to piss my pants because that part was so funny.

Knocked up wasn't that funny to me. So I'm passing on Superbad.

Knocked Up tried to leave you with some sort of feel good resolution that a porn site operating, marijuana smoking, partying, loser can become a great dad and husband after a one night stand. Superbad doesn't try to do that. It just tries to make you laugh the whole time. I'd give it a shot.

Disagree partially. Superbad, just like every other stupid teen comedy, spends the last 45 min of the show telling a lame story whose only purpose is to make a moral point at the end, which is that the nerdy guy can be loved for who he is and not need to get the girl drunk, and that the other nerdy guy has some substance to him and good guys shouldn't take advantage of drunk girls and if they don't they will win in the end. Lame.

But that aside the first 45 min is freakin' hilarious, as funny as any movie I can remember. And the last 45 minutes is more tolerable than Knocked Up, etc.

I'll concede that. The cops were over the top, but after the penis story I could buy it all. As far as the moral in Superbad, it wasn't as big of a leap to make as it was in Knocked Up.

I thought Knocked Up was very funny.

SuperBad started out funny and lost some steam a little more than halfway through, but still funny.
