Utah solid addition to Pac 10
Utah is good in sports, as manifested by their current ranking in the Director's Cup.
75th in the nation. There are more than 200 teams ranked BEHIND Utah! I'm sure the Pac 10 took Utah's overall sports program strength into account when they picked up the 75th best program in the country. Which incidentally is about where there athletic dept. budget is ranked as well. Sure, it's not as good as Colorado, sitting at #66, but Utah hasn't had the advantage of BCS-type money. http://www.nacda.com/auto_pdf/p_hoto...df/d1dcupjun23 |

BYU is 35th without BCS money, and I remember the day when BYU finished higher, much higher. We're sinking for lack access to funds.

That the main reason for not being the best. If there will be sufficient fund and facilities then BYU can make itself to the top. But until this issue is not being resolved we can show some good sports. Not a big deal.

Gnash my teeth? That someone thinks Pac-10 will get more money that its last contract? Duh. Everyone gets more money for the next contract.
It's still not worth as much as SEC, Big 12, or Big 10. |
