Default It has been pretty well known in some circles what Matanga Tonga did

and now it has finally hit the papers. Six counts of felony burglary. Now most of the stuff going on in the BYU program has been fairly minor, but I don't think you can claim this is minor. I don't really care what BM does with discipline, but six counts of a felony you would think a year suspension is probably in order.

polys have a different culture where ownership of things are much more fluid than Western culture. "Mine" and "Yours" doesn't translate as well.

Based on that, I suspect a 3 game suspension is in order, if true justice can be found.

Ben Banks, I understand, freaked out when the elders jumped out of the motorboat into the shallow ocean to tie up the boats.

I guess "swimming" also included shallow wading.

I don't think sleeping in is a Poly trait. It's a trait of most any normal 19-21 year old. I rarely got up "on time" during my mission.

Let's make a deal. I won't tell you what to do with your football players who mess up, and you don't tell me what to do with mine. I could not tell you how little I care who is drunk driving on the U and what position they play. And I really don't want you in my business telling me when and when not my guys should play.

I don't understand what's going on here.

Why didn't the papers crucify him when he was arrested. Is it because he was a minor and didn't have his name in the arrest report? I don't get why it took this long to break.

I heartedly endorse this post. I am tired of BYU fans who think they should judge Ute coaches and players. I would think Ute fans would be above that kind of stuff, but I guess not.

i dont know what they should do with Tonga, but its hilarious to me that they are just breaking this story it happened in April, Tonga was 19 at the time, and it is public record if you go to the utah county sherriffs website.

Imo he will plea down to one count, and probably not ever serve jail time, pay a hefty fine, maybe some community service. The only reason it is 6 counts because he stole from 6 different dorms.

Has he been kicked out of school, or just the football team.

Seems to me that a regular student who was caught doing this would get kicked out of the school.

He is no longer enrolled, not sure if he was kicked out or not, but i know he is at UVSC, and can not go on a mission due to his pending legal issues. I think however he would be allowed to attend the temple for his brothers wedding
