Northern Iowa is a formidable opponent...
which I think most of us knew already, as far as challenge on the field is concerned (they won't count towards our SOS will they?). They're ranked #3 in the pre-season Division I FCS poll:

We're gonna win by at least 3-4 touchdowns.

Michigan sucked. BYU would have beaten App. St by a big margin at home last year. They would have lost on the road, since they can't win an out of conference road game. I give BYU a 99.998768% chance of winning the first game and a 21.765% chance of beating Washington the next week. I will be stunned if we don't start 1-1.

If N Iowa is a close game BYU has no business being in the top 25.

Appalachian State is 2-6 vs 1-A teams over the last 8 years
Code:
Season Team W/L Opponent PF PA Opp Record 2000 Appalachian St. W Wake Forest 20 16 2-9-0 2001 Appalachian St. L Wake Forest 10 20 6-5-0 2002 Appalachian St. L Marshall 17 50 11-2-0 2003 Appalachian St. L Hawaii 17 40 9-5-0 2004 Appalachian St. L Wyoming 7 53 7-5-0 2005 Appalachian St. L LSU 0 24 11-2-0 2005 Appalachian St. L Kansas 8 36 7-5-0 2006 Appalachian St. L North Carolina St. 10 23 3-9-0 2007 Appalachian St. W Michigan 34 32 9-4-0 Northern Iowa lost their starting QB and most of their starting OL. We should fear Northern Iowa the same way we should fear playing a 2-10 or 3-9 MWC team at home. |

I have actually seen the UNI Panthers play (twice). In a good year, they might finish in the middle of the MWC. The Cougars should dominate unless they show up and think the game's already won.
BYU 34 UNI 10 is about right.
