Best thing that could happen for BYU is to get blown out, Riley and Doman have a terrible game.
That gives more leverage to Holmoe. |

Yay!!!
I'm not even going to watch the game. The good thing about the situation we're in right now is that these situations are unstable.

Nice vacation spot. Isn't that the whole point of most of the bowls?
Whoever wins will have a few nice plays highlighted on Sportscenter; then 21 hours later while the next bowl is kicking off, few people will even remember who played the day before. Come February, most people will only remember three or four of the bowl winners. |

I attended the last bowl game (my first), and I was on TV.
Not going to happen this year. |

Good preview by ESPN, with focus on the friendship between the head coaches.

That game was an embarrassment for BYU. I got a text from a non-LDS fiend. He asked what happened to the BYU he used to know that scored 40+ per game. What he witnessed was a team that couldn't put together a meaningful drive.
Ugly, ugly football. So ugly that the halftime commentators could not hide their disgust. The offense is completely incompetent. And now Doman has suddenly installed an Oklahoma-style spread offense for the bowl, because that's what he's going to do going forward? Embarrassing. Doman is in over his head and will never be a good OC. He needs to go. Van Noy had a game for the ages. Of course because it's BYU the game was against a crappy opponent and completely meaningless, played in front of mostly empty stands. And that's almost certainly the end of Van Noy's career at BYU. I expect Cody Hoffman to leave for the NFL as well. With Ansah going, that means that BYU loses the three best players on the team going into next year. Next year where Doman is DVRing Oklahoma games to run his offense, with QB who has a reconstructed knee thanks to the idiocy of Bronco and Doman. It could be ugly. Who is the QB going to throw to? Apo? Doman's offense is apparently designed to not involve the tight ends, so that's out. And Doman cannot develop a good OL. Sometimes I think that Doman and Mendenhall together have one of the largest football brains in football. Of course, we'd be much better off if together they had two brains worth. That would put us on a level playing field. <rimshot> Oh well, the life of a BYU fan. Always disappointed and waiting for the other shoe to fall. |
