It does prompt an interesting issue, though: how much instablility in Iraq would bleed into instability in other regions? How much instability in the Middle East can we afford with our current addiction to oil?

The faster we break the oil habit, the better off we are. How we ever pegged our future to that part of the world is beyond me.
