My brother (6 yrs younger than me) had the same attitude as you, until he came to live with us a couple of summers ago for a law internship. He was determined to avoid the Harry Potter phenomenon, until I convinced him to just try the first one. He grudgingly admitted he liked them and read the whole available series in a matter of weeks.

My kids love the books and have read them and are reading the most current, but I just have no interest in the entire Harry Potter craze.

Of course, I wasn't too impressed with any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy either. (The films - never read any of the books but I have read The Hobbit and liked it.)

I guess I need to broaden my horizons a bit, eh?

Star Trek is ok, if only for the unintentional laughs I get.

My movie tastes are very simple:

An accurate portrayal of an historical event.

or

Lots and lots of stuff getting blown up.

Science fiction just doesn't do much for me.
