About 11,000 Iraqi soldiers were assigned to a U.S.-led offensive launched last month in and around Baqouba, on Baghdad’s northeastern rim. Only about 1,500 showed up, U.S. officials said."

we care about preventing a civil war more than Iraqis do apparently. Sad.

One thing I agree with Waters on. Iraqis apparently have no interest in stopping the violence and getting their own country under control.

As long as that's true, we have no shot of achieving out goals over there.

i know a handful of people who have done multiple tours over there. each time they come home they are progressively more cynical about achieving anything resembling a lasting peace over there
