Discovery disbanding!
They were unable to secure a sponsor.
Hincapie is going to T-mobile. Leipheimer's future is up in the air. If he signed with slipstream, finally you have a real American contending team. http://www.velonews.com/race/int/articles/13071.0.html |

Armstrong and the other co-owners aren't stupid. They know that the Armstrong buzz is wearing off and with all the new doping scandals they're never going to get the "big" funding they were getting from Discovery.
I doubt that Slipstream would become a contender with Levi. If they are serious about their no-doping policy, they'll never have the domestiques necessary to push a real contender to the front. |

I ahve been bummed abotu this all day long. I would not be surprised to see Levi go to Slipstream. You also have Bruyneel retiring from cycling, which is too bad. I guess with 8 of the last 9 Tour winners there is n't much for him to do.

This isn't so bad. Finally we get American cycling completely out of the shadow and control of a certain Mr. Lance Armstrong. Time for a new era, one free of doping.

Here's to hope... Unfortunately, I get the feeling that Slipstream will be the only clean team. The other teams with better funding will just find better ways to hide the fact that they are doping.
I would be much more supportive of Slipstream if they would get rid of the argyle. It's just two clicks to the left of queer for me. |

I had a conversation with a couple of guys who compete at the international level in track (obviously we'll keep names out of this). They run in the same circles as professional cyclists, tri-athletes, etc...
Unfortunately, they say that doping is kind of a circular problem. A guy gets beat and hears it's because the other guy was doping. So he dopes. He beats somebody else who hears that he was doping. Everybody is afraid everybody else is doping and nobody wants to lose. |
